Esther feels as empty and barren as the windswept fields of December.
Her life had been good with Daniel. Now three dark years since his passing she can feel nothing but bitter anguish.
The weight of the world is taking its toll, and the last thing Esther expects is a stirring of feelings for a young Amish man who fled from the community mysteriously many years ago.
Henry’s return one cold December morning spreads shock waves through their peaceful Amish community. Henry has a reputation, and it isn’t good. Yet everything Esther’s heard of him doesn’t seem to fit the man she meets. Could it be true— the whispers— the rumors?
And what of Henry himself, and the turmoil within his soul? What is it with this widow that captivates him so? He can feel himself being drawn to her, and try as he might, can’t
seem to fight it. The last thing he wants to do is hurt anyone else.
Beyond all this, bigger problems lie. Just when things couldn’t possibly get any worse for Esther, they do. Will Henry come to the young widow’s aid, or will he abandon his family and the community again–this time forever?
Where is God when the thunderstorms of life threaten to overcome us? Does he prevail in the midst of turmoil– and can we trust him to redeem us even when all feels lost?
In Esther’s Reception, you’ll join Esther and Henry as they face their biggest dilemma yet: MARRIAGE.
With a ticking clock and a hesitant Bishop, the odds are against this couple’s happily-ever-after. Will Henry muster the strength he needs to convince the Bishop his rush proposal is actually innocent—and will Esther’s parent’s grant their blessing on the marriage?
