About the Book
Join us in a wonderful Amish Christmas story with the timeless message of the cross, that seeks to touch your heart in hopes of building that same faith in you that inspired this Job to hold on to his Lord in the midst of overwhelming difficulties.
Gott fearing Amish man, Job Beiler, faces insurmountable odds. Death, loss and pain crash over his life and all seems lost. But Job is man who knows and walks with a Gott who turns mountains to dust and holds the oceans in his hands.
“My name is Matthias Lapp. I am often asked to tell the story of Job, and I don’t mind. It is a wonderful story, and since people have told me I am an excellent story teller, I am more than happy to comply. But usually before I begin, just to be sure I understood them correctly, I have a question for them: “Which Job do you mean?”
After all, as far as I know, there are at least two Jobs. It’s possible there are still more Jobs around, but I know about two, and although both of their stories are similar, they are also very different.
For starters, there’s the unfortunate Job we can read about in God’s Word. That was Job of the land of Uz, a man who was blameless and upright, who feared Gott and shunned evil. He was the first Job, a man who lost just about anything a man holds dear but who, forty-two chapters later in the Gut Book, ends up being wealthy again and wiser than he had ever been before.
But when people come to me for the story of Job, they usually don’t want to hear about that Job. They want to hear about the second Job who, like his namesake, feared Gott, shunned evil just as much, and strangely enough walked just about the same path as the famous Job of the land of Uz.
The story I am about to tell you is about an Amish brother by the name of Job Beiler…”
Join Matthias as he recounts the hope-filled story of the other Job, and let the miracle of Christ and the cross touch your heart afresh…
