Twins Lady Olivia and Lord Oliver Maddox are in a quandary. Their parents, who are members of the beau monde, have just lost a fortune at cards. In order to fend off disaster, the twins realize that marriage is the only option for them.
Their maternal grandmother, the widow of an earl, and their paternal grandfather, a widowed duke, agree that Olivia is of an age to be married and join forces to further the twins’ prospects while clamping down on their adult children’s fondness for excess. But a very unlikely thing happens during Olivia’s season: to her family’s delight, she is courted by a marquess. Everyone except her brother is puzzled at her lack of interest in such a suitor.
Oliver understands because instead of falling for the daughter of an earl, he finds himself captivated by the daughter’s orphaned cousin. When a young soldier comes into Olivia’s life, she realizes that the question of love is not answered by titles, but by the heart.
How will the family respond to this unexpected and unwelcome turn of events?
