Sarah Beiler is a cheerful, vibrant young Amish woman who teaches at the elementary school she once attended as a child. There, she meets a seemingly grumpy guy named Tom who is also the principal of the school. At first, the two seem as different as night and day, but Sarah finds herself unexpectedly drawn to him. She feels that his cantankerous manner is merely a facade to keep people from getting too close to him. Sarah is determined to break down that wall and show him that it is okay to be happy.
At first, Tom seems to resent Sarah’s warm, caring attitude, but after an accident inadvertently brings them closer together, Tom realizes that his feelings for Sarah are growing—as are his desires to learn more about her Amish way of life.
Eventually, Tom finds himself head over heels in love with Sarah, but in order to be with her, he will have to leave his Englisher world behind, be baptized into the Amish church and join the community.
Will his love for Sarah be strong enough to make him want to become a permanent part of her Amish world?
